Portuguese media: Cristiano Ronaldo should be ashamed of himself, he behaves as if he did nothing wrong

In the fifth round of Group F of the European Group Stage of the World Cup Qualifiers on November 14, Portugal lost 0-2 to Ireland in an away game. Cristiano Ronaldo's elbow turned red in the second half and he made a crying gesture towards his opponent, which triggered strong criticism in Portugal.

Hugo Vasconcelos, editor of the Portuguese media "Global", published an opinion article titled "Cristiano Ronaldo should be ashamed", criticizing Ronaldo's behavior.

Vasconcelos: The worst thing yesterday was not Martinez talking to himself there, but what Ronaldo did. What he did was deplorable. And I don't mean just that elbow, because losing your mind in a moment of frustration, while it shouldn't, does happen.

C Ronaldo is 40 years old. At Wednesday's press conference, he deliberately provoked his opponents, the Ireland manager and the crowd. It was he who created this atmosphere that he himself could not cope with.

But the worst part was his reaction - the whole clown show: from crying (as if the Irish player was faking the elbow), to shaking his head (as if he didn't understand what was happening), to applauding the stands (as if the red card was their fault, not his own).

C Ronaldo made a mistake. At the very least he should apologize, but what he should really do is feel ashamed. But if Martinez wipes his ass and says "no violence" and "just trying to push away" and "he's just unlucky", then I really can't hold out much hope (for this team).
