TA: Norwich striker Sargent is in-depth negotiations with Wolfburg and is expected to return to the Bundesliga

According to TA, US national team forward Josh Sargent is in in-depth negotiations with Bundesliga club Wolfsburg on the transfer. The deal has not yet reached a final agreement, but the two sides are still in negotiations. Once completed, Sargent will become Wolfsburg's second player to introduce from the Championship this summer.

Sargent, 25, has played 133 games for Norwich and contributed 48 goals since he transferred to Norwich from Bremen in the summer of 2021. He scored 15 goals in the 2024-25 English Championship and ranked fourth in the scorer list, and scored 16 goals in the previous season. With his stable goal efficiency, he has become the focus of many high-level clubs. Norwich coach Liam Manning said in an interview with the BBC: "Sargent is a top player, which is very obvious in the Championship. Because of this, it is natural for him to be paid attention to by the previous level club."

If Sargent joins Wolfsburg, he will become the second person to the team from the Championship this summer after Vinicius Sousa. Previously, Sargent played for Werder Bremen and started his career there. His Bundesliga experience and goal-scoring ability are exactly what Wolfsburg needs to rebuild his lineup. In terms of the US national team, Sargent has played 28 games for the United States so far, but has not been selected for the Golden Cup lineup coached by Pochettino. Pochettino responded: "We want to see the performance of other strikers. We did not choose him this time, because of tactical considerations."

Sargent's current contract with Norwich has not expired, and the club has not announced its price, but if the transaction is successful, he will return to the familiar Bundesliga stadium.
