Barcelona official: With permission from UEFA, home Champions League games return to Camp Nou

Sports Weekly All-Media Original

Barcelona issued an official announcement confirming that the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League this season’s home game against Frankfurt will be played at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona announced on Monday that the Camp Nou stadium has obtained the "Phase 1B" license and will open 45,401 seats. The weekend La Liga games will return to Camp Nou. The Red and Blues finally returned to Camp Nou after nearly two and a half years. In June 2023, Barcelona started the Nou Camp reconstruction project and originally planned to return to the Nou Camp at the end of 2024. However, due to construction delays, Barcelona did not return until the end of 2025.

Barcelona wrote in the official announcement:

Barcelona Football Club has confirmed that the sixth game of this season’s UEFA Champions League (against Eintracht Frankfurt on December 9) will be held at the Spotify Nou Camp Stadium.

This decision follows the approval of a "Phase 1B" permit, which allows for an expansion of the spectator area to include the entire side stand area, in addition to the previously approved "Phase 1A" sections (Main Stand and South Stand). UEFA confirmed that all requirements have been met and approved the application.

The club will announce ticket sales information for this game in the next few days. FC Barcelona is delighted to be back at home and will continue to advance the overall renovation project of the new Spotify Camp Nou stadium.
