British media: It is not bizarre for Arsenal to buy Maduaike, the right winger is not useful enough
On July 17, the London Football Network published an article reporting on Arsenal's transfer. Maduaike's signing may have triggered the strongest online response in Arsenal's transfers in recent years. There are many different opinions on this, with opinions ranging from rational to absurd. Sadly, some remarks even crossed the line. Social media platforms still need to strengthen response measures, but people do not expect too much. Ultimately, the core dispute of this transfer is price. Arsenal spent a lot of money to introduce the player, mainly positioned as a rotation and competitor for Saka. The Gunners are using the summer window to strengthen the team to add chips to the championship next season. The transfer window in the Arteta era often adopts a "review" strategy, that is, analyzing the shortcomings of the previous season and then targeting recruitment. In the 2024-25 season, Saka's injury directly ruined the already staggering hope for the championship. Envanelli, who was 17 years old at the time, was urgently recruited, but the youth training young player, who was considered not specializing in this position, was soon injured due to the heavy load on the adult team. Arteta strongly hopes to strengthen the position, and when it is clear that Mbemo is unwilling to compete with Saka and is more inclined to secure the main players in other teams, turning to Maduaike becomes an inevitable choice. There is also demand in other positions, especially Yorke on the front line. But the left winger's reinforcement discussion is higher, although this may not be a priority at the actual operation level of the club. Rodrigo and Eze have a rumor with the team. The latter is regarded as a key target before closing the window. He can play multiple roles, including the left winger. Although Rodrigo has not been confirmed to leave Real Madrid, it will definitely cost huge funds if he leaves the team. Considering that a lot of money has been invested this summer, Arsenal may need to sell the players first before making the next major signing. But it is completely untenable to think that Maduaike's transfer has hindered Eze or Rodrigo's joining. In front of the Gunners' lineup, only Saka is a right winger, Havertz is a healthy fake nine, while the left winger is a Martinelli and Trosad. Although one of the latter two may leave the team, it has not been a success so far. It is obviously illogical to give priority to introducing third left-side players without strengthening the middle or right, and is by no means a wise move to build a lineup. Arsenal may still sign Eze and/or Rodrigo to achieve one of the most successful summer windows in club history. But in terms of the operations that have been completed so far, the Gunners have laid a solid foundation for the new season. How to end this summer window in the end may determine whether they win the trophy or finish second again.
