Glasner: I have the same fate as Guy; Crystal Palace has not signed the person I asked for so far

Hupu August 9th Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner hinted that he might leave because he was frustrated that the club failed to complete the signing he asked for this season.

The Austrian said he did not negotiate a contract extension and suggested that he could follow the example of club captain and England central defender Mark Guy, whose contract will expire at the same time. "Mark and I, we have the same fate," Glasner quipped.

When asked whether his decision would be affected by this transfer window, Glasner replied:

"Let's wait and see."

When asked if he had the confidence to keep Eze when Arsenal and other clubs were interested in him, he replied:

"Eze will play on Sunday, Mark will do so, he will be the captain of the team." If Guy leaves, Glasner hopes to sign another offensive player and may sign two centre-backs. Crystal Palace needs to pass the playoffs to enter the Europa League, unless they can successfully appeal and overturn the decision to relegate Crystal Palace from the Europa League.

"I said if we want to be better than last year, then my advice is, 'Sign at least two players so we can achieve our goals.'" Glasner said. "Keep competitive in four events. If anyone finds it ridiculous, then okay, let's see.

If Crystal Palace wants to play in European games, want to climb in the Premier League and regain its glory, that's what you have to do. Everyone in the club knows it. Of course, it would be helpful if the players are in place before the preseason starts because you have time to train here. We are quite passive at the moment. We lack players and we have to bring in players, especially those at high levels." He said Crystal Palace can't be used as an excuse for sporting director Doge Friedman's departure in March, claiming that he's slow to move this summer.

"He was here last year, but we had late signings," he said. "He is not here this year, I hope we can sign, but our signing will be very late."
