McAllister conveyed Slott's apology to the guests present and read a brief speech from the Dutch coach, in which Slott said he was "very honored" to receive the award.

Other recipients at the awards ceremony included Leeds United manager Falke, Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson and Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

Last year, Ten Hag won this award for leading Manchester United to win the FA Cup and attended the award ceremony. Ironically, Ten Hag was fired by Manchester United's senior management a few days later.
