Transfer fee is expected to be 100 million euros! Telegraph: Newcastle hopes to sign 23-year-old striker Ekitic

July 12th The Telegraph reported that Newcastle rekindled interest in striker Ekitic, with the players having a 86 million pound termination clause.

Newcastle is looking for a striker to share the offensive responsibility with Isaac and hopes to sign Ekitic in competitions with teams such as Liverpool.

Newcastle is naturally cautious considering that Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are all linked to 23-year-old Ekitic this summer, but they are exploring the possibility of a deal with Frankfurt.

Newcastle has let players' representatives know that they want to sign the French U21 international and hope to agree with Frankfurt on transfer fees. Ekitic's termination clause is about 100 million euros (£86 million), and Newcastle almost certainly needs to pay the full amount to complete the transfer.

Even if Newcastle successfully signs Ekitic, it does not mean that Isaac will be sold this summer. Newcastle executives still plan to offer Isaac a new contract later this year and have no intention of selling him with three years left.

Ekitic scored 22 goals and contributed 12 assists in all competitions last season, helping Frankfurt qualify for the Champions League.
