Nadal s sister had her life threatened

Sebastian Moll McCarthy, a German man who is said to regularly visit the Rafael Nadal academy in Manacor, was convicted of stalking Nadal's sister after a trial in Majorca court on September 21. McCarthy admitted to stalking and texting harassment after getting Maribel's cell phone number and threatening to "taste her blood".

A series of published text messages show that McCarthy proposed his love to Maribel and reacted negatively after being rejected. The five-page verdict concluded that McCarthy was guilty of harassment, restricting the personal freedom of others and making Maribel uneasy.

Nadal's sister had to hire a security guard every day, both while at work and at home. Maribel's mental health was said to be seriously affected by the fear of being sexually assaulted.

What is notable in the verdict is that McCarthy appeared almost every day at the Rafael Nadal academy, claiming to be an athlete at the center. The prosecutor asked the court to sentence McCarthy to six months in prison and ban him from approaching Maribel for three years.

However, the court postponed the prison sentence because the defendant had never committed a crime in Spain and admitted wrongdoing and cooperated during the investigation. McCarthy received a four-month suspended sentence and will have to go to jail if he reoffends. In addition, this man is prohibited from contacting and coming within 300 meters of Maribel.

The Rafael Nadal Academy in Manacor opened in 2016 and is the most modern facility in the academy chain of the "King of Clay ". Maribel is currently the academy's deputy executive director. In many interviews, Nadal affirmed that his sister is the third most important woman in his life, along with his mother Ana Maria and wife Mery Perello.
