23-year-old Ma Wei will be on the shelves again! He was once returned by the Lakers due to physical examination problems. The Warriors may compete with the four teams

On June 1, according to NBA reporter Jake Weinbach, 23-year-old Hornets center Mark Williams is expected to appear in the trading market again this summer. In February this year, he was "returned" after being traded to the Lakers due to physical examination problems. Weinbach said that Marvel's contract has one year left ($6.27 million) and that if the Hornets continue to peddle the starting center, the Bucks, Bulls, Celtics, Raptors and Warriors will all be seen as potential suitors for Marvel. In the 2024-25 season, Ma Wei played in 44 regular season games, averaging 15.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, shooting percentage of 60.5%, and free throw percentage of 80.4%. Before the trading deadline, the Hornets had reached a deal with the Lakers to send Mawei to the Lakers in exchange for Kneckett, Reddish, an unprotected 2031 first-round pick and 2030 first-round swap rights. However, two days after the transaction was completed, the Lakers finally canceled the transaction because they had some concerns about Ma Wei's physical examination.

Shams said at the time that Mawei was diagnosed with many problems during the physical examination, but the cancellation of the transaction was not the cause of back injury. Subsequently, Sidery followed up with reports that one reason why Mawei's deal with the Lakers was cancelled due to a failure in the physical examination was serious concerns about his left foot injury history.

However, as Weinbach reported, if Mawei is on the shelves again, it will still attract the interest of many teams, including the Warriors who need to upgrade to the center position. Recently, some media have posted a three-party trading plan for the Warriors to get both Marvel and Cameron Johnson. The details are as follows:

Warriors get: Cameroon Johnson, Mark Williams, Okogie

Nets get: Kumingga, Hilder, the Warriors' first round of 2028

Hornets get: Moody, Jackson Davis, and the Warriors' first round of 2032
