I don't think James is willing to accept basic salary in the future. Regarding the view that "some teams will be interested in James with a basic salary", if he is really willing to accept the basic salary, why should he play for teams other than the Cavaliers?

If James really reaches the point where he is willing to accept the basic salary, then he can just go back to the Cavaliers. That was his home and for his legendary life. The Cavaliers have All-Stars in four other positions, and they are in the East! If money is not a problem, why would he choose the Mavericks, Warriors or some other team?

Let me guess James' salary in the 2026-27 season, I think it is about $25 million. There is no way to get a salary cut. He will be picky about the team's choice (although it's still possible that it's the Lakers' one-year contract). But I think it's important for him to get a decent number. This is more important than pure money.
