Harden Housing Restaurant closed: forced to close due to $2.2 million in rent owed, property has been replaced with new locks

On September 4, according to US media reports, former Rockets star James Harden's restaurant Thirteen was forced to close due to arrears of $2.2 million in rent and other expenses.

According to US media CHRON, the restaurant Thirteen operated by Harden has been forced to close. A notice was posted at the door of the restaurant, and the property wrote: "The door lock has been replaced due to the unpaid rent, and tenants are not allowed to enter." The notice clearly states that if the rent arrears are paid, the new keys can be provided to the restaurant’s management.

Currently, the restaurant is still accepting reservations on the online ordering platform. Harden's restaurant, located at 1911 Bagby Street, opened in 2021. At that time, Harden's relationship with the Rockets deteriorated. Before the 2020-21 season, Harden missed the team's training camp and played negatively after the game. In January 2021, Harden applied to leave the team and said bluntly: the situation is irreversible; the next day, Harden was traded to the Nets by the Rockets.

The restaurant continues to operate after Harden leaves the Rockets, and is expected to invite celebrity chef Siddartha Cadena to launch a new menu in 2024 to upgrade its brand; but now Harden's restaurant is forced to close due to rent arrears, which makes people speculate that the restaurant may be closed. By the time Harden and the Clippers arrive in Houston in February next year, they may need to find a new restaurant to have a post-match meal.

Last season, Harden played 79 regular season games for the Clippers, averaging 35.3 minutes per game and scored 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists, leading the Clippers to the playoffs, but was eliminated 4-3 by the Nuggets in the first round. In this offseason, Harden signed a new two-year, $81.5 million contract with the Clippers. What kind of results can he lead the team to play in the new season? Let's wait and see.
