Motel: Even the No. 1 pick is not ready to enter the NBA, but James is an exception
Former NBA and CBA player Motieyunas was a guest on a podcast program. When asked whether he was ready for the NBA when he finally stepped onto the field at the age of 22, Motel believed that no one could really prepare on the physical level when he first entered the league, even the No. 1 pick was no exception. "I mean, no one is fully prepared, maybe the No. 1 pick is possible? But to be honest, even they are not ready. Few players can really adapt to NBA-level physical confrontation when they are selected as teenagers. After all, they are facing adult men. In such a clear age gap, natural strength advantage will inevitably become an influencing factor." Motel later mentioned that only one person was ready to compete in the NBA at the age of 18: "I think the only person to be prepared is LeBron James. He was already a mature man at the age of 18 or 19. Americans are different, their physical development is much faster than we Europeans. There is no doubt that I was not ready at the time."
