Spurs General Manager: New stadium construction ensures no tax burden on local families

Spurs reporter Jeff Garcia reported on the Spurs' construction of a new stadium. RC Buford, general manager of the San Antonio Spurs, issued a statement on the terms of the venue construction agreement:

We are pleased to advance this process and will eventually allow voters to hold a referendum on the stadium project in November this year. Under the proposed terms, the Spurs will undertake a total investment commitment of $2.1 billion. We always adhere to two principles: to ensure that there is no tax burden on San Antonio families and to bear all possible overspending construction costs. From the initial communication with the city government, we emphasized that this is not just a venue, but also an important carrier for creating opportunities, retaining memories, and ensuring the prosperity of San Antonio for generations.

Heartly thanks to the San Antonio City Council, City Managers Judge Eric Walsh, Judge Peter Sakai and the Bexa County Commissioner for their time and efforts in the process. Their leadership is crucial to achieving this milestone and we look forward to continuing to work together to serve the people of San Antonio and Bexa County.
