Trae Young: Contact Kennard and Walker to urge him to give up other options to help the Hawks return to the playoffs

In an interview, Hawks star Trae Young said that during the recruitment of Alexander Walker and Kennard this summer, he personally called them to let them know that he believes they can improve the Hawks' backcourt and contribute to a stronger playoff sprint. "I'm on the phone with them both. Obviously, they have other options, but I hope they can join my team and I know they will make our team better. We've reached a consensus through conversations." Kennard will bring a top-notch outside shooting threat to Atlanta's offense, while Alexander Walker adds the diversity and depth of defense. Both defenders are expected to play a major role in coach Snyder’s rotation next season as the Hawks aim to return to the playoffs squad.

Kennard signed a one-year, $11 million contract with the Eagles. The Hawks got Alexander Walker from the Timberwolves in a sign-and-change trade. The deal gives a 2027 second-round draft pick and cash compensation to the Timberwolves, while Alexander Walker signs a four-year, $62 million contract.
