Yabuselle: I don’t understand why I didn’t play time when I first entered the NBA, but that experience taught me a lot

June 9th, 76ers forward Yabuselle was interviewed by HoopsHype at the 2025 Adidas European Training Camp.

When asked how my mentality was different from my first NBA mentality when I returned to the NBA this time, Abussele said: "This is completely different from my mentality when I was in Boston. At that time, I was selected at the 16th pick in the first round, so my expectations were completely different from the current standards.

"I was not experienced at that time and was still young, and I just hoped to have the opportunity to play on the court. When I didn’t get a chance to play, I felt more and more frustrated because I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t play.

" Looking back on the past, it's not that something is wrong, it just happened that way. The Celtics are a team with a lot of players. At the time, there were Marcus Morris, Aaron Baynes and Horford in front of me. These players have been working in the league for many years and are experienced. I can't mistakenly think that I should be ahead of them, that's not right. I just hope that things can be different, such as the team can use substitutes more, giving me more playing time with several other players. Although I didn't have much time in Boston, that season taught me a lot and helped a lot in the second half of my career.

"This experience really inspired me and made me love basketball more." I know I love the sport, but it's really hard to play if I can't play for a long time. I missed that feeling, so I decided to find a place that would keep me on the field and now I always try to choose the environment that suits me best. ”

In 2016, Yabuselle was selected by the Celtics in the first round of 16.
