Post: Greater Manchester mayor hopes Manchester United s new stadium can host 2035 Women s World Cup final

On November 16, the "Daily Mail" reported that if Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham's vision comes true, Manchester United's new £2 billion stadium may host the 2035 Women's World Cup final.

Burnham is a member of the Stadium Task Force which is pushing forward plans to demolish Old Trafford and build a new "Wembley of the North" if United can secure private funding for the project and government support for the wider regeneration of the area surrounding its stadium.

While the goal of completing the stadium project by 2030 may be too optimistic, Burnham believes that when the 2035 Women's World Cup comes to the UK, Manchester United's new venue can host the high-profile final.

Burnham said in the podcast: "If we really push for it, I think the possibility of hosting the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2035 is quite high. Imagine the final in that brand-new Old Trafford, that would be a goal worth pursuing, wouldn't it?"
