Saul: Atletico Madrid must fight for all championships, no longer get high salary as an excuse

Hupu July 31st News Saul recently accepted an interview with the media as a new player in Flamenco. He talked about Atletico's experience, his views on Simeone and his evaluation of Yamal.

"Trabzon Sports provides me with better financial conditions, but I came to Rio de Janeiro for personal reasons. Flamenco's coach Filippe Luis is a plus for me to come here," Saul explained.

Saul has spent 15 seasons at Atletico Madrid, 12 of which have been in the first team. He was an indispensable key player for Simeone during this long Atletico Madrid career. “The ending of my story is a bit weird, but I realized my dream of playing for Atletico Madrid and I made great memories everywhere I played and that’s what I took away,” he said. When asked why we failed to continue our success at Atletico Madrid, Saul didn't want to shirk responsibility: "I always say that it was my fault. There are many situations that prevent you from maintaining confidence... Players have to know how to deal with it, maybe I didn't do it."

Saul also talked about his relationship with Simeone: "We have had a very harmonious relationship and a low point, but we have always been direct. This is my favorite point. He has not been hypocritical to me, unlike some other people in the club. One year I thought Simeone had lost his passion for coaching, but the 'brain' would be at Atletico Madrid until he wanted to leave. His philosophy is still deeply rooted in people, but there is still a long way to go," he commented.

He also talked about Atletico Madrid's transfer market: "I spent 200 million euros last year, and this year it's about that. You can no longer use 'Sauer's salary high' or 'some people' as an excuse. This is the reality. The club is spending money like other giants, and they have to fight for all the championships."

Finally, he mentioned Yamal. "He is under tremendous pressure now because he is very high. We won't see anyone doing what he has done like Ronaldo or Messi," he concluded
