Harper is elected as the second place as he wishes! Spurs Vinban Castle Harper Trident s new version of GDP storm is coming

After winning consecutive NBA Rookie of the Year in the past two rounds of draft picks, the San Antonio Spurs hopes to pick Rutgers defender Dylan Harper with the second pick in Wednesday's NBA draft, picking him for the third straight.

This draft marks the third consecutive top four in the Spurs. He is the rookie of the year in 2025, the fourth overall pick of the Spurs last year, and the top rookie Victor Vinban Yamama of 2024. He was the first overall pick in 2023, and the new version of GDP is coming! The future is promising!

Harper is widely regarded as one of the top defenders of the year, but in San Antonio, his addition seems redundant due to the presence of Cassel and new point guard De Alon Fox. But Harper's versatility is in line with the pattern the team pursues when transitioning to positionless basketball. Team leaders don’t focus too much on drafts to meet position needs, and they believe that players will eventually develop and determine their position in the system.

At Rutgers, Harper demonstrated the skills to create edge pressure that will improve San Antonio spacing, as Vimbaniama is already one of the top spacing big men in the league.

With the recent hire of assistant coach Collis Williamson and assistant head coach Sean Sweeney, the team hopes to increase pressure on the defense led by last season's block leader Vincenyama. Harper, who is 6-foot-6, is tall enough to be one of the key figures in one of the most suffocating teams in the league.

At this year's draft, the Spurs still have the No. 14 draft pick.
