The Indiana Pacers were playing the Eastern Conference Finals G2 with the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden in New York, and the Pacers won 114-109. Initially, police received a call from a man who was later identified as Jarrett Fink for suspected involvement in a fight. However, when Fink left the bar, the caller said that the police were not required to be present. Minutes later, a brewery employee called the police again, saying Fink had returned to the brewery terrace and stabbed a man in the back and was trying to leave the scene. When police arrived, they found two injured people. Court documents show one of them had a stab wound on the back and the other had a cut in the calf. According to the two victims, Fink approached them in the bar and knocked one of them the Knicks hat to the ground. Fink was then taken out of the bar and he shouted "Go to TM, do you have any problems? Go outside to solve it." About five minutes later, while the two victims were on the terrace, Fink rushed through the fence and began attacking them. One of the victims told police he had briefly displayed a black folding knife to stop Fink, but then put it away because he had no intention of taking the initiative. A verbal dispute eventually turned into a physical conflict, with two victims stabbed by Fink. In an interview with the police, Fink claimed that the victim first provoked and pushed him down, and he took out his knives to fight back after being slapped in the face. However, several witnesses confirmed that Fink was the main attacker of the incident.
