BBC: Celtic club and fans group have not yet reached an agreement and talks failed on Monday

Hupu reported on October 7 that the conflict between the Scottish Premier League Celtic Club and its fans continues.

This season, dissatisfaction among Celtics fans at the board level continues to rise. In previous home games against Braga and Motherwell, fans had planned to hold silent protests, but they were temporarily canceled because the club invited fan representatives to speak with senior officials. The meeting was attended by the club's chief executive Michael Nicholson and chief financial officer Chris McKay.

Celtic Fans Collective said a meeting they held with the club's top brass on Monday "did not produce any substantive results." "Many participants felt that the club's leadership remains out of touch with the concerns of fans and unwilling to confront the need for change," Collective said in a statement. The collective said the talks were "unproductive." The statement read: "Throughout the dialogue, a recurring theme was a lack of humility, a lack of awareness, and a lack of responsibility."

Collective stated that club officials defended the team's football strategy and transfer policy at the meeting and stated that they "do not believe that any substantive changes are necessary." Collective expressed disappointment: "The club continues to be unwilling to engage in meaningful communication on leadership, governance structure and accountability issues." Collective finally stated that they will "continue to discuss next steps with members" and emphasized: "Yesterday's meeting further highlighted the urgency and necessity of reform."

Celtic subsequently issued a statement in response, stating that the club representatives participating in the meeting "responded to relevant issues as candidly as possible without affecting the club's operations and confidentiality" and reiterated "commitment to continued dialogue."

The statement also stated: "We acknowledge that the club has not yet reached its ideal state and that the goals of the summer transfer window and the Champions League have not been fully achieved. We have indeed made some mistakes and will learn from them. We understand and share the concerns raised by the fans and share their frustrations. Thank you for the opportunity to listen directly to the fans last night. Our top priority is to seek improvement and progress without negatively affecting the team's on-field performance and continue to focus on achieving success this season."
